How are Bonafide kayaks different from others?

From day one Bonafide has focused only on fishing. These are not general kayaks adapted for fishing. Every model is designed with the angler in mind from the drawing board: where the rods go, where the lures sit, how to reach your boxes without leaving your seat, and how to stand steadily while casting.

Bonafide kayaks are rotomoulded from high quality polyethylene in the USA. It is a proven technology that ensures resistance to impacts, UV and salt water. Every model has an integrated Track system accessories for mounting, comfortable seats and a well thought out deck layout.

Which Bonafide model should a beginner choose?

Bonafide SS127 is the logical place to start. It is a sit on top fishing kayak, 386 cm long, with a wide and stable hull. The SS127 has more than enough room for gear, a comfortable high seat and built in rod holders. If you have never paddled a kayak before and are looking for a reliable first fishing kayak, the SS127 is a very good choice.

Bonafide RS117 is a more versatile option. This model is shorter (356 cm) and more nimble, suiting both fishing and leisure paddling. If you want a kayak that paddles well to your fishing spot and is fun for a weekend paddle, the RS117 combines both.

Which models are made for serious anglers?

Bonafide EX123 is an expedition class fishing kayak. 373 cm long, with extra storage volume and a stable platform for long days on the water. If you fish lakes or the coast and need a kayak that can carry a full day's gear, the EX123 is built for exactly that.

Bonafide SKF117 is a unique model made for anglers who like to fish standing up. SKF stands for Stand-Up Fishing Kayak, and it is one of the most stable kayaks you can confidently stand and cast from. The platform is flat and the foot area is specially designed for stability.

Bonafide RVR119 is made for river anglers. Shorter and more nimble than the lake models, with a raised bow and better handling in current. If you fish rivers and need a kayak that steers well between rocks and currents, the RVR is one of the best options on the market.

Does Bonafide make pedal kayaks?

Yes. Bonafide PWR129 and Bonafide P127 are pedal models. A pedal drive lets you propel the kayak with your legs and use your hands for fishing. That is a big advantage when you need to hold position in the wind or slowly work along the shore looking for fish.

The P127 and PWR129 have Bonafide's own pedal drive, which is reliable and easy to maintain. Compared with Galaxy Kayaks pedal kayaks, Bonafide sits in a higher price class but offers different fishing ergonomics and a premium finish.

What is the Bonafide XTR130 and who is it for?

Bonafide XTR130 is the flagship model and one of the most serious fishing kayaks you can buy. 394 cm long, with huge load capacity and the best equipment Bonafide has to offer. The XTR130 has an extremely stable platform, an integrated accessory system and room for everything you need for a day or even a multi day fishing expedition.

For those who want even more, there is the XTR130 with Garmin Force Current electric motor. It is a fully equipped fishing kayak with an integrated electric motor that lets you go further and faster than any pedal or paddle kayak. An investment for serious anglers who need mobility and reliability.

Frequently asked questions

Safety on the water

Always wear a life jacket. For fishing we recommend NRS Chinook Fishing PFD : it has pockets for tools and rod holder slots, so it does not get in the way when fishing. For more on safety gear, read our life jacket comparison.

How is Bonafide different from Galaxy Kayaks?

Galaxy Kayaks is a European manufacturer aimed at a broader market: from recreational to fishing kayaks. Bonafide is an American brand that makes only fishing kayaks. Galaxy Kayaks are generally cheaper, with prices starting at 199 EUR, while Bonafide starts at 2 499 EUR. The difference lies in materials, finish and specialisation. If your budget allows and fishing is your main goal, Bonafide offers a premium experience. If you are looking for good value for money, Galaxy Kayaks is a great alternative.

Do Bonafide kayaks need extra accessories?

Bonafide kayaks come with good standard equipment: a seat, rod holders and an accessory Track system. But many anglers also buy a fishing crate (YakAttack BlackPak Pro), a fish finder with a mount and kayak trolley. The pedal models come with the pedal drive, so there is nothing extra to buy.
