Galaxy Kayaks tie down straps: a secure kayak on the roof

Galaxy Kayaks tie down straps are for securing a kayak, canoe or paddle board to a roof rack. The straps are 3.5 m long and 25 mm wide, sold in pairs. The buckle has EVA foam padding, so it scratches neither the car nor the hull being secured.

Key features

✓ EVA padding at the buckle – protects paint and the hull

✓ Zinc aluminium alloy buckle – corrosion resistant

✓ Tightens with one hand – you hold the kayak with the other

✓ Polipropileno juosta – resistant to UV, moisture and stretching

✓ 3.5 m length – fits most roof racks

Strap construction

Padded buckle

The buckle is wrapped in EVA foam padding that touches the car paint and the kayak or paddle board surface. This avoids the scratches and dents that plain metal buckles leave. The zinc aluminium alloy buckle body does not rust.

A buckle that does not slip

The one sided cam buckle lets you pull the strap tight with one hand and locks it so it does not loosen from vibration while driving. This matters on longer trips.

Kaip tvirtinti

Place the kayak or paddle board on the roof rack bottom up. Pass the strap over the hull, loop it around the crossbar and pull it through the buckle until the craft is held firmly. Check that the strap is not twisted and that the padded buckle rests on the hull, not on the glass.

Technical data

  • Length: 3.5 m

  • Width: 25 mm

  • Strap: 100% polypropylene

  • Buckle: zinc aluminium alloy

  • Padding: EVA foam

  • In the pack: 2 straps

One kayak or paddle board needs two straps: one at the front and one at the rear, at each of the roof crossbars. Check that the straps have not loosened before you set off and after the first few kilometres. Do not overtighten, especially on thin walled composite or inflatable craft.

After a trip to the sea or in the rain, rinse the straps with clean water and let them dry.

Who are the Galaxy Kayaks straps for?

✓ Carrying one kayak, canoe or paddle board on the roof

✓ Cars with crossbars or a rack style roof carrier

✓ Anyone who wants to protect car paint from buckles

✓ As a spare pair of straps for trips
