Galaxy Alboran FX3: a next-generation premium pedal kayak, named best fishing kayak of 2025 in its category at The Paddle Sports Show. This Galaxy Kayaks flagship is built for beginners and serious anglers who value innovation, comfort and the latest technology. You can choose between three ways to move: the Ultraline flipper drive for next-generation efficiency, the Cyclone pedal system for proven control, or a paddle for relaxed outings. Thanks to its 408 cm hull and smart features, the Alboran FX3 suits any fishing style, from jigging to trolling or live bait.

Key features

✓ Ultraline flipper drive - choose the latest-generation flipper system, which mimics a diver's fins for quiet, efficient propulsion.

✓ Centre hatch with live bait well - a unique wet/dry design lets you keep live bait fresh in water or use it as a sealed box for gear, giving you maximum flexibility

✓ Torqeedo-ready hull - built-in mounts at the stern let you fit a Torqeedo electric motor with no extra modifications, giving you three ways to move (flipper/pedals + motor + paddle)

✓ Serious fishing setup - 4 universal tracks (2 front, 2 rear), Railblaza StarPort mounts, 2 flush-mount rod holders and a transducer compartment for maximum customisation

✓ Wood-texture EVA pads - stylish and non-slip for stand-up fishing, adding comfort and good looks to a top-end kayak

Design and stability

The Galaxy Alboran FX3 has a 408 cm long, 81 cm wide hull that gives a great mix of stability and speed. The longer hull glides more easily, cuts drag and reaches higher speeds whether you use the Ultraline flipper drive, Cyclone pedals or a Torqeedo electric motor. The 81 cm width keeps you stable for stand-up fishing, even in sea waves.

Ultraline flipper drive is the latest-generation technology that mimics the movement of a diver's fins in the water. It gives you:

  •

Quieter propulsion than traditional propeller pedals (less likely to spook fish)

  •

More efficient use of energy (less effort for the same speed)

  •

    Less drag in the water

  •

Easy handling even in shallows (the flippers don't snag on weed)

Cyclone pedal system (alternative option) gives proven, reliable control with a 1:10.5 gear ratio and a 29.8 cm propeller.

An improved steering system with a bigger rudder and a wider angle lets you manoeuvre precisely even in tricky conditions: in shallows, among weed or against the current.

Centre hatch with live bait well is this kayak's standout feature:

    •

Wet option: Fill it with water and keep live bait fresh for several hours

    •

Dry option: Use it as a sealed box for gear, food or electronics

The front sealed hatch keeps your most valuable gear dry: fish finder battery, phone and documents. Side storage boxes give you extra organised space for your gear.

The Torqeedo-ready hull with built-in mounts lets you use the kayak with an electric motor for long trips or quick moves between fishing spots without effort. That gives you a unique chance to use three ways to move on one trip.

This kayak suits freshwater lakes and rivers as well as coastal sea waters with moderate waves. CE certification (2013/53/EU) and a 2-year warranty on the hull guarantee quality to European standards.

      Why do load zones matter?

The maximum load under the CE certificate is 238 kg, but the kayak performs best at 140-190 kg (paddler + gear). Base weight with seat and packaging is 47.6 kg. This directly affects stability, pedal/flipper efficiency and your overall fishing experience.

Green zone (140-190 kg): You weigh 95 kg + 50 kg of gear (rods, fish finder, cooler, live bait, fishing bag) = 145 kg: ideal balance, the Ultraline flipper or Cyclone pedals work efficiently, best stability for stand-up fishing

Blue zone (below 140 kg): You weigh 80 kg + 40 kg of gear = 120 kg: too light, the kayak may be less stable in wind or waves, and the flipper/pedals are less efficient

Red zone (190-238 kg): You weigh 115 kg + 100 kg of gear (Torqeedo battery, extra gear) = 215 kg: safe under CE, but the kayak sits deeper, the flipper/pedals work against more drag and it's slower

IMPORTANT: The base kayak weight (47.6 kg with seat and packaging) leaves about 190 kg for paddler and gear, so for optimal performance your weight plus gear should stay within 140-190 kg. Recommended maximum paddler weight: up to 115 kg.

      Features and comfort

Ultraline flipper drive is the technological heart of the kayak. The flipper system mimics a diver's fins, creating quiet, efficient propulsion without propeller noise. That matters when you want to approach fish unnoticed. The flipper system works in both directions, so you can back out of a shallow spot quickly or approach your fishing spot precisely.

Cyclone pedal system (alternative option) gives proven, reliable propeller control, ideal if you prefer traditional pedal drive and more speed.

Centre hatch with live bait well transforms this kayak:

      •

Wet: fill it with water and keep live bait fresh for several hours

      •

Dry: use it as a sealed box (for a camera, phone, documents)

      •

Switch easily between wet and dry depending on the trip

        4 universal tracks strategically placed:

        •

2 at the front: fish finder screens, GPS, cameras

        •

2 at the rear: flags, safety light, extra accessories

Railblaza StarPort mounts let you fit serious accessories without drilling the kayak: fish finders, extra rod holders, cameras, navigation devices.

Optional side platforms (raised tracks) add extra space for gear, or even a standing platform for more stability.

Transducer compartment with cover mounts underneath through a scupper hole, so you can fit an HD sonar without drilling the kayak. A pro-level feature for anglers using advanced fish finders.

Wood-texture EVA pads are stylish and practical:

          •

            Non-slip surface for stand-up fishing

          •

            Comfortable barefoot

          •

            Easy to clean

          •

            Good-looking design

Vista high seat keeps you comfortable on fishing sessions lasting several hours: the ergonomic shape supports your back, and the adjustable height fits your size.

Side storage boxes give extra organised space:

            •

Lures, fins and hooks within easy reach

            •

              Protected from water

            •

              Easy-open lids

Rear storage area with bungee cords (black, white and orange lifelines) holds bigger items: a cooler, a picnic, a fishing bag.

Pedal hatch cover (sold separately) lets you cover the pedal/flipper opening when you only want to paddle, and use it as extra storage.

5 carry handles (bow, stern, sides) make carrying easier. A protective strip on the bottom guards against scratches. Scupper holes with rubber valves keep the kayak dry.

Is the Galaxy Alboran FX3 right for me?

Ideal for anglers looking for a premium pedal kayak with a next-generation flipper drive. We recommend it for experienced paddlers who want one kayak for both fresh and salt water. The key difference from other pedal kayaks is the Ultraline flipper drive and the central live bait well.

              Yes, if:
