NRS (Northwest River Supplies) is one of the oldest and most respected water sports gear manufacturers in the world. The company was founded in 1972 in Idaho, USA. Founder Bill Parks started with 2000 dollars and a garage, and over five decades NRS became a global leader. Since 2014 the company has been 100% employee owned, which means every NRS employee has a stake in the quality of the product.

VAKA Sport is the official NRS representative in the Baltic states. In our range you will find the full NRS inflatable paddle board (SUP) line. In this article we compare all the models and help you choose the one that best fits your needs. If you want to compare boards from other manufacturers too, all our paddle boards are gathered in one category.

How are NRS paddle boards different from other brands?

NRS boards stand out for several technologies you will not find on budget boards. All NRS boards inflate to 20 PSI (while standard boards reach 15 PSI), which gives much greater stiffness. Z/Blend Core construction uses a woven rather than knitted drop stitch material, making the board 20% stiffer and 15% lighter than previous generation models.

The higher end models (Clean, Jukdo, Heron, Clipper) use IST (Integrated Shaping Technology) with several air chambers. The side chambers act as stabilisers and create a DropDeck effect, where the deck sits lower while the sides stay higher. This greatly increases stability and lowers the centre of gravity.

Which NRS models are sold in Lithuania?

NRS Tour-Lite: a versatile entry model

NRS Tour-Lite is an affordable premium board for those who want NRS quality without the top price. It inflates to 20 PSI, has a textured EVA deck pad for better grip and 8 tie down points (4 at the front, 4 at the back) for securing gear. The set includes a high pressure pump, a touring fin, a backpack and a repair kit. A great choice for beginners and intermediate paddlers.

NRS X-Lite: the lightest board in the range

NRS X-Lite is made for those who value low weight and easy transport. It is one of the lightest NRS boards, yet it still inflates to 20 PSI and keeps its full stiffness. It has 4 tie down points at the front and a D ring for the leash at the back. Ideal for travel and touring.

NRS Clipper: the touring class leader

NRS Clipper (330 cm) is one of the most technologically advanced NRS models. The V shaped nose improves speed and tracking, while the IST Concave construction channels water towards the fin for a smoother, quieter glide. Z/Blend Core makes the Clipper 20% stiffer and 15% lighter. It is a board for serious touring, with performance that is hard to fault even for experienced paddlers.

NRS Revel: enjoyable paddling for everyone

NRS Revel is a versatile all round board with good touring characteristics. Stable, comfortable and suitable for a wide range of uses: from a relaxed paddle to longer routes. It suits both beginners and experienced paddlers looking for one board for everything.

NRS Clean: a multi chamber stability platform

NRS Clean is the first board in the NRS range with three air chambers and DropDeck technology. The main chamber inflates to 20 PSI, the side chambers only to 5 PSI. This creates high sides and a low deck, which greatly increases stability. The set includes 4 fins (2 touring, 2 whitewater), so the board suits the widest range of waters.

NRS Jukdo: touring meets stability

NRS Jukdo combines the Clean's stability technology with the Clipper's touring performance. It has three air chambers, Z/Blend Core construction and DropDeck. The set includes a touring fin and 3 all water fins. One of the most versatile NRS boards, suited to both long trips and stable paddling in waves.

NRS Heron: a fishing SUP board

NRS Heron is a dedicated fishing board with 364 litres of volume and 8 inch side chambers that act as stabilisers. The 5 inch thick deck with 7 inch thick side pontoons carries up to 136 kg (300 lbs). The wide rectangular deck makes it easy to fish, land fish and store gear. YakAttack mounting points let you fit rod holders and other gear. It is a unique board that combines the mobility of a SUP with kayak stability for fishing. Which NRS board is right for you?

The choice depends on three things: budget, intended use and experience level.

If you are looking for your first premium board and want versatility, the Tour-Lite or Revel will be a great choice. If low weight and compactness matter most, choose the X-Lite. If you are planning long trips and serious touring, the Clipper is the best choice in this class. If you want maximum stability and versatility, the Clean or Jukdo with its multi chamber construction will be just what you need. And if your main goal is fishing from a board, the Heron has no rivals.
