NuCanoe U10 Fishing Kayak (330 cm)

NuCanoe U10 is a compact fishing kayak made in the USA (Fletcher, North Carolina). It takes the features of the larger Unlimited but is shorter: 330 cm long, 104 cm wide and 36 kg. The manufacturer designed the U10 for river anglers, weekend anglers and tournament anglers who want everything within reach.

Construction and equipment

Stability for stand up fishing
The U10 hull is 104 cm wide and the deck is flat and open. It is easy to stand up, cast and turn around on it. The draft is only 7.5-13 cm, so the kayak gets through shallow spots between reeds and river riffles. Up to 170 kg, water drains off the deck through the scupper holes, and with the holes plugged the kayak carries up to 227 kg.

360 degree Fusion seat
The standard 360 Fusion seat swivels a full circle, so you can fight a fish in any direction. The backrest is adjustable and the seat slides along a 163 cm track. Height adjustment, a 360 degree lock, quick release and a child seat are available as extras.

Rod storage and staging
Behind the seat there is a flush mount rod holder, and on the side a closable rod compartment with a lid. Rods are stowed safely on deck and do not get in the way of paddling, and you can grab the next rigged rod without standing up.

Tracks and measuring board
25, 38 and 163 cm aluminium tracks are fitted around the deck. Fish finders, rod holders and other accessories mount on them without drilling. The kayak has two ledges for a measuring board, so you can measure and release a fish without getting out.

Fish finder and cable routing
Two cable pass-through plates let you route fish finder and battery cables through the hull, so the deck stays tidy. NuCanoe GearPod (sold separately) is a removable storage box that holds gear and a battery.

Electric motor and rudder

The U10 can be paddled or fitted with a motor. The manufacturer specifies a maximum 2.5 hp outboard or an electric motor with about 36 kg of thrust. For this there is the U10 bow motor mount and U10 outboard motor mount. Tracking is helped by the QC hand steering system U10 or QuickConnect foot control system. For the anchor there is the Anchor Wizard mount U10.

What does 227 kg capacity mean?

The NuCanoe U10 has two limits. With the scupper holes open the kayak carries 170 kg and water drains off the deck by itself. With the holes plugged the maximum safe load is 227 kg. This includes all people and gear. Examples:

• 85 kg angler + 45 kg gear = 130 kg, within the 170 kg limit.
• 95 kg angler + 30 kg child + 50 kg gear = 175 kg, the holes need to be plugged.
