Strap construction

Padded buckle
The buckle is wrapped in EVA foam padding that touches the car paint and the kayak or paddle board surface. This avoids the scratches and dents that plain metal buckles leave. The zinc aluminium alloy buckle body does not rust.

A buckle that does not slip
The one sided cam buckle lets you pull the strap tight with one hand and locks it so it does not loosen from vibration while driving. This matters on longer trips.

Place the kayak or paddle board on the roof rack bottom up. Pass the strap over the hull, loop it around the crossbar and pull it through the buckle until the craft is held firmly. Check that the strap is not twisted and that the padded buckle rests on the hull, not on the glass.
