M-TAC ARMOR sit pad with strap, Ranger Green

M-TAC ARMOR sit pad with strap, Ranger Green is a 26 x 33 cm seat pad with a 30 mm layer of rubberised foam in a Cordura 1000D cover. It is worn clipped to a belt and lowered when you sit down, and the cover has a pocket for a ballistic insert, so the same pad can also work as extra protection.

Construction

The inner 30 mm layer of rubberised foam does not absorb water and blocks the cold from concrete, stone or snow. The cover is sewn from Cordura 1000D, with abrasion resistance over 50 000 cycles and a tear strength of about 3000 N. The fabric meets NIR requirements: in the near infrared range it reflects no more light than its surroundings.

The pad hangs from a belt on two separate adjustable straps. Two straps instead of one stop the pad swinging to the side as you walk. The Fastex buckles open with one hand, even with gloves on, so you can quickly remove or attach the pad without taking off your backpack.

Side panels
Panels sewn into the sides wrap around your hips and hold the pad in place when you sit, so it does not slide sideways and covers the whole seating area. Total weight without the ballistic insert is about 200 g.

Who is the ARMOR pad for?

The pad is made for field service, hunting, fishing and long observation in the cold season, when you have to sit on cold or wet surfaces. The 30 mm foam layer insulates noticeably better than ordinary 10-15 mm seat pads.

The M-TAC BALLISTIC PACKAGE CLASS 1A insert is not included and is sold separately. Without it, the pad works as a regular thick seat pad in a Cordura cover.

Care and storage

Wiping the cover with a damp cloth or rinsing it in cold water with neutral soap is enough. Dry it at room temperature: rubberised foam deforms at high temperatures and loses some of its insulating properties. It is best to store the pad uncompressed so the foam layer does not flatten.

Before the season it is worth checking the Fastex buckles and strap seams. They are the only wearing parts: the Cordura 1000D cover itself lasts several seasons of everyday use without noticeable wear.
