M-TAC sit pad 20 mm (35 x 28 cm)

M-TAC seat pad 20 mm is a 35 x 28 cm foam seat pad with an elastic fixing strap. It is the simplest and cheapest way to avoid sitting on cold, wet or muddy ground, and sitting on a cold surface in winter is one of the most common causes of catching a chill when working or resting outdoors.

Construction

Strap with a buckle on the back
An elastic strap with a buckle is fixed to the back of the pad. It clips onto your trousers or a tactical belt, so the pad hangs behind you at waist height and drops down when you sit. You do not need to take anything out of your backpack, so the pad gets used at every short stop.

Anatomical shape and 20 mm thickness
The pad is rounded to fit the seat, so 35 x 28 cm is enough for an adult and it does not stick out at the sides when carried. 20 mm closed-cell foam does not absorb water and insulates from the cold of concrete, stone or snow.

Who is the seat pad for?

The pad suits anglers, hunters, mushroom pickers, photographers, builders and anyone who spends the day outdoors and sits down now and then. It is also useful at stadiums, training grounds and children’s competitions, where benches are often cold or wet.

The main difference from the seat pad with a Cordura cover is price and durability: this model is bare foam, so it is cheaper and lighter, but with heavy use the edges wear out sooner. If the pad will be used every day at work or on duty, choose the version with the Cordura 1000D cover.

No maintenance needed: when dirty, rinse with water and dry at room temperature, away from open flame.

Rinse the pad with water and dry it at room temperature, away from open flame and radiators. Closed-cell foam does not soak up water, so it dries in minutes, not hours.

It is best stored without pressure. If it is kept under heavy items for a long time, the foam flattens where it is pressed and loses some of its insulation. The elastic strap is a wearing part: if it stretches, the pad will no longer stay in place when you walk, so check the strap at the start of the season.

The pad does not mind mud, grass juice or sand, so you can toss it in the car boot or the outer pocket of your backpack. It is something you use without any preparation.
