NuCanoe Flint Fishing Kayak (343 cm)

NuCanoe Flint is a compact fishing kayak made in the USA (Fletcher, North Carolina). It is 343 cm long, 84 cm wide and weighs 29 kg, making it the lightest NuCanoe fishing kayak in our range. NuCanoe designed the Flint for rivers and calm water: it combines speed, stability, tracking and manoeuvrability.

Construction and equipment

A stable deck you can stand on
The Flint deck is flat and open, with no deep seating well. You can stand on it, cast and turn around with a rod in your hands. Draft is only 7.5-15 cm, so the kayak gets through shallows and riffles where deeper kayaks get stuck. Scupper holes in the hull let out any water that gets onto the deck.

Fusion seat on a 99 cm track
The standard Fusion seat sits on a low centre of gravity base, so the kayak stays stable. The backrest is adjustable and the seat slides along a 99 cm track. Height adjustment (+2.5-5 cm) and 360 degree swivel are available as options.

Accessory tracks and GearPod
Aluminium Freedom and TopLoad tracks run around the deck. Fish finders, rod holders and other accessories mount on them without drilling. NuCanoe GearPod (sold separately) is a removable storage box that protects your gear and can house electronics and a battery.

Easy to transport and carry
The hull weighs about 29 kg, so one person can lift it onto a car roof and carry it to the water. The Flint suits places without a launch ramp: rivers and small lakes.

Electric motor and rudder

You can paddle the Flint or mount an electric motor at the bow or stern. The manufacturer states a maximum motor thrust of about 36 kg. NuCanoe mounts are used for installation, for example the Flint outboard motor mount. For the anchor there is the Anchor Wizard mount for Flint kayaks. Cable pass-throughs let you route fish finder and battery cables through the hull.

What does a 170 kg load capacity mean?

The maximum capacity of the NuCanoe Flint is 170 kg. This includes all people and gear. A few examples:

• 85 kg angler + 30 kg gear = 115 kg, leaving 55 kg in reserve.
• 95 kg angler + 35 kg gear = 130 kg, leaving 40 kg in reserve.

The manufacturer does not publish an optimal load range for the Flint.
