YakAttack RotoGrip Phone Holder Pro is a phone holder for a kayak, built for one specific scenario: when one hand holds a paddle or a rod and you need to grab the phone with the other. That's what the RotoGrip system is for: it lets you put the phone in and take it out in one motion, without pressing any latches or undoing straps.

How the RotoGrip works

The phone twists in, rather than being pressed in
Two rubber rollers hold the phone by its sides. When you insert the phone they turn and lock, and to take it out you simply twist it. No spring to pull back and no need to hold the body with your other hand, so you can grab the phone without putting the paddle down.

Width adjustment via the ball joint
The roller width is adjusted by pulling the body away from the 2.54 cm ball and turning it one way or the other. A spring mechanism locks in the chosen position. The same ball is used for the screen angle, so there is one adjustment point, not two separate ones.

LockNLoad mounting to the track
The holder attaches via a LockNLoad connector that engages the track with teeth and doesn't turn in waves or from an accidental knock. It fits YakAttack GearTrac and MightyMount tracks and most factory kayak track systems. If you don't have a track yet, it can be bought separately.

12.7 cm extension sleeve
The 12.7 cm sleeve in the kit slots between the track connector and the holder. It lifts the screen above the deck so you can see it without leaning over, and lets you move the phone further from the splash zone. If you don't need the sleeve, you just take it off.

Strap system and safety cable
A silicone strap system wraps around the phone from four corners and works with or without a case. A coiled steel cable with a locking carabiner attaches to it: coiled it is 23 cm, stretched to 122 cm. The cable attaches to the holder frame, so even a phone that falls out stays tied to the kayak. The strap system doesn't cover the camera lens.

Who is this phone holder for?

The holder is for kayak anglers and paddlers who use their phone for navigation, as a camera or as a fishing log and do not want it in a pocket. It offers one hand operation and a safety cable that stops the phone from falling into the water.

The same LockNLoad principle is used by the LockNLoad fish finder screen mount, so the two accessories can be swapped round on the same track.

On the water the phone is a map, a camera and your connection. The RotoGrip Pro makes it reachable in a second and at the same time stops it disappearing into the water.
