Railblaza Rod Holder Extender: the rod higher and further out

Railblaza Rod Holder Extender is an extender that fits into a StarPort base and raises the rod holder by 12.5 cm. The holder can also be moved out to the side. This makes the rod easier to reach and lets it clear a seat back, a corner or a live well lid, and the line tangles less often.

Design and use

On a kayak
On a kayak the rod holder is often next to the seat. With the extender the rod rises above the backrest, so it does not catch on the seat and is easier to reach when you turn around.

On a boat the extender lifts the rod above the gunwale or hatch covers. It is handy when the holder sits close to other accessories and the reel needs more room.

The extender fits into the StarPort, and the holder locks onto its top with a thumb screw. The manufacturer does not recommend it for trolling with a large fish and a heavily tightened drag.

Rod holder and mounting base (StarPort or other) is not included in the kit.

The Railblaza system

Railblaza accessories are designed and made in New Zealand. The whole system is built around a single StarPort connection standard: you fit the base once and swap accessories to suit what you are doing that day. The same base takes a rod holder, fish finder, camera, cup holder or flag, so there are fewer holes in your kayak or boat and fewer unneeded mounts.

Care

After fishing in saltwater, rinse the accessory with fresh water and let it dry. Check the moving parts from time to time for trapped sand. If the accessory is not used for a long time, store it in the shade.
