M-TAC ARMOR sit pad

M-TAC ARMOR sit pad is a 26 x 33 cm seat pad with a 30 mm layer of rubberised foam in a Cordura 1000D cover. It differs from an ordinary seat pad in two things: thicker insulation, and the fact that an M-TAC ballistic pack can be put into the cover, turning the pad into extra protection when sitting or riding.

Construction

30 mm foam and Cordura 1000D
The inside is a 30 mm layer of rubberised foam that doesn't absorb water and doesn't let cold through from concrete, stone or snow. The cover is sewn from Cordura 1000D, which withstands more than 50,000 abrasion cycles. This combination lets you sit straight on the ground even in winter, and the pad doesn't get soaked or wear out.

Two straps with Fastex buckles
The pad hangs from the belt on two separate straps with fastex buckles. Two straps instead of one mean the pad doesn't swing sideways when walking and stays parallel to your back. The strap length is adjustable, and the buckles can be undone with gloves.

Side panels and NIR technology
Triangular panels sewn into the sides wrap round the hips and stop the pad slipping when you sit down. The fabric meets NIR requirements, so in the near-infrared range it doesn't reflect light more than the surrounding vegetation, which matters for duty and hunting use.

Ballistic pack

The cover has room for an M-TAC BALLISTIC PACKAGE CLASS 1A pack. The pack is not included and is bought separately. With it inserted, the pad does double duty: when sitting or riding in a vehicle it covers the pelvic area. Without the pack, the pad works as an ordinary thick seat pad and weighs about 200 g.

Who is the ARMOR versija for?

This version is for those who need thicker insulation than the standard 24 x 36 cm model, and for those considering the option of a ballistic pack. It also suits anglers and hunters who sit in one place for a long time in the cold season: a 30 mm foam layer lets the cold through noticeably more slowly than the usual 10-15 mm.

Care and storage

The pad needs no maintenance: when dirty, just wash it in cold water and dry it at room temperature. Don't dry it by a radiator or campfire: rubberised foam deforms at high temperatures. It should be stored uncompressed so the foam layer doesn't flatten.

Check the fastex buckles and straps the way you check other tactical gear: once a season make sure the buckle tongues aren't broken and the strap seams aren't frayed. The buckle can be replaced if needed without re-sewing the whole cover.
