Design and use

Two part construction
The holder consists of two parts: the rod holder and a rectangular base with a ball joint. The base screws down with four bolts into the pre-drilled mounting points on the kayak, and the holder connects through the ball joint.

The position you need
The ball joint lets you set the rod at almost any angle. Once you find the right position, the holder locks and does not move, even when paddling or when a fish bites.

Which rods fit
Almost any fishing rod fits the holder. The manufacturer recommends a kayak specific rod with a shorter handle and a lighter reel, so that the holder is not overloaded.

Care

After fishing at sea, rinse the accessory with fresh water and let it dry. Check the screws now and then and tighten them if needed. Store it in the shade when not in use for a long time.

How to arrange your rods

Rod holders are usually fitted behind the seat and on the sides, so rods don't get in the way of paddling and casting. For trolling it's handy to have holders on both sides, angled so the line doesn't touch the hull. When carrying a rod while paddling, secure it with a leash in case the kayak capsizes.
