Braca-Sport Stand Up Kahana SUP Paddle (648 cm²)

Braca-Sport Stand Up Kahana is a premium 100% carbon fibre SUP paddle. The Kahana 648 blade has an area of 648 cm². It is slightly smaller than the original Malibu shape but relatively wider, so it adds stability throughout the stroke. This SUP paddle is available with a one-piece or an adjustable shaft.

Construction and options

One-piece or adjustable shaft

The one-piece shaft is the lightest and stiffest version: the length is set during manufacture and there is no joint. The adjustable version has a Braca Plastic I. joint. It lets you change the length by about 5 cm and set the blade angle from 0° to 80° to the right or left. This paddle breaks down into two pieces and is 85 g heavier.

Shaft stiffness

The manufacturer offers three shaft stiffnesses: stiff (2.6-2.8 mm), medium (3.1-3.3 mm) and soft (3.9-4.1 mm). For larger blades the manufacturer recommends a stiffer shaft, but any combination is possible.

Carbon fibre grips
Braca-Sport makes carbon fibre grips: Carbon T Curved, Carbon T Curved Ergo and Carbon Oval. The grip is where your top hand holds the paddle throughout the outing, so its shape should fit your palm.

Care

Clean the adjustable shaft regularly. After paddling in salt water, rinse the joint with fresh water after every outing; otherwise take it apart and clean it every three days.
